Detailed Itinerary for the 10 Days Uganda Primates Safari

Day 1: ARRIVAL

You will be welcomed by an exceptionally excellent Gorilla Safari Experience representative who will take you to your Entebbe hotel or lodge. Upon arrival, you will be able to visit the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre for Primary Creation with Uganda’s flora and fauna. On a single day at the Guesthouse Airport.

Day 2: NGAMBA ISLAND – UGANDA PRIMATES SAFARI

Go to Chimpanzee Island! You will leave Entebbe in the morning for a near stumble with our closest relatives. You will reach Ngamba Island on a pleasant boat trip, where you will be directed to the visitor’s center to be taught more about chimps and their lifestyle more closely. You will thereafter be taken to a stage like spots are where you will able to view and take shots of these fascinating apes just a few meters away.

Day 3: ENTEBBE – KIBALE NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, we will head west to Fort Portal from Entebbe. This beautiful town lies in the shadow of the Moon’s fabulous mountains and is known for the many tea plantations. From Fort Portal, we will proceed for a stay in the tropical forest to Kibale Forest National Park.
Dinner and overnight in Primate Lodge Kibale’s cottages.

Day 4: KIBALE NATIONAL PARK & BIGODI SWAMP

On the fourth day, the forest opens doors for sensational chimp monitoring. Kibale Forest has the highest range and concentration of primates in East Africa. In search of the wild chimpanzee, red-tailed monkey, black-and-white colobus monkey, and many others, enjoy a guided nature walk in the tropical rainforest.

We transfer to the Bigodi Swamp for another, completely distinct nature walks after a hearty lunch. The Bigodi Swamp Walk is a local community project that takes about two hours. The swamp is renowned for its abundant bird and primate diversity.

Day 5: KIBALE – QUEEN ELIZABETH

In the morning, before continuing to Queen Elizabeth National Park, we will visit the crater lakes area with some amazing views. It’s a lovely path through Kasese, with the green valley on your left and the Rwenzori Mountains on your right. A game drive in the center of the national park on our manner to the accommodation provides us the opportunity to spot waterbucks, warthogs and other wildlife before the actual game drive.

Day 6: QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

The day starts with an early morning visit to Uganda kobs mating ground. We thereafter look for natural habitats of lions, elephants, buffaloes and other wild animals for a better game before returning for lunch break. We take a boat cruise trip on the Kazinga Channel in the afternoon, a natural channel between Lake Edward and Lake George. This cruise will certainly be one of the highlights of your safari as it is the best strategy to spot elephants, buffaloes and hundreds of hippos.

Day 7: QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK – BWINDI

We will leave for an experience at the Kyambura Wildlife Reserve early in the morning. Driving through a grassland region, we suddenly find an incredible hundred-meter-deep gorge covered with tropical rainforest. In search of the wild chimpanzees, you will walk into the Kyambura River gorge for chimp tracking.

We’re going to leave Queen Elizabeth National Park later and head to Bwindi. The picturesque path passes through a green landscape as you pass traditional homes and farms.

Day 8: BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK

Your Uganda gorilla safari’s highlight: a meeting with Bwindi’s giant apes! Hikers, in particular, will enjoy the tracking in the park’s lovely ecosystem. It’s hard to predict how many hours you’re going to walk, it might take two to eight hours. Wait for a long distance before you meet any gorillas in steep and muddy circumstances, sometimes with rain overhead.

But as you watch them carefully while they consume leaves, play and rest, it will definitely be worth the hike. An unforgettable and unique experience! Time spent with gorillas is restricted to one hour for preservation reasons. The ranger will always tell you how to act while with the gorillas.

Day 9: BWINDI – KAMPALA

We begin our long drive back to Kampala in the morning. On our way, we will pass by the famous village of the royal drums’ maker in Mpigi and the Ugandan Equator for lunch, pictures on the equator and shop for a souvenir. We’ll reach Kampala at the end of the day with dinner on our manner.
Overnight at Cassia Lodge.

Day 10: DEPARTURE – End of Uganda Primates Safari

You will say farewell to Uganda the Pearl of Africa, enriched with a lifetime experience and unforgettable memories. You may have some time to spend in Kampala on a city tour depending on the moment of departure. Visit the exciting historical sites, including the Shrine of Namugongo Martyrs, the Uganda Museum and the African Craft Village. Then we will take you back home to the airport for your flight.
And that will be the end of your super Uganda primates safari!
