Detailed itinerary for 9 days Uganda safari

Day 1: Arrival:      
On your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met by your Safari guide who will transfer you to your Hotel in Entebbe.

Day 2: Kampala – Murchison Falls National Park

on your second day of the 9 days Uganda safari, you will be picked from your hotel in Kampala and drive via Bombo and Masindi town to Murchison Falls National Park.  Have a stop at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for Rhino trekking. Have lunch scheduled to Murchison falls National Park through Kichumbanyobo gates.

If time allows, you will take a drive to the “Top of the falls” for an incredible sight of the powerful Nile as it navy its way through a rocky gap scarcely six meters wide. This is the point where the Nile River detonates through a tapered gorge and cascades down to become a docile river.

Day 3: Game Drive/ Launch Cruise

Go to the Murchison Falls National Park North Bank for an early morning game ride. You may be able to view animals that are unique to the African Savannah like giraffe, elephant, antelope, lion, and the Uganda Kob. Return to the lodge for breakfast in the middle of the morning as you relax waiting for lunch.

You’re going to go on a launch cruise on the Nile River after dinner. The cruise takes you to the Bottom of the boisterous falls where you will see huge crocodiles, schools of hippos, buffaloes, elephants and a diversity of water birds like herons, ducks, cormorants, bee-eaters, skimmers, kingfishers, eagles of fish and uncommon shoebills. Return to the lodge

Day 4: Murchison falls NP – Kibale NP

After an early breakfast, you will head off for Kibale National Park. You will drive on the Masindi-Hoima-Fort portal highway through the western Rift valley’s Albertine Escarpment.

This will be a long drive south via Hoima to Fort Portal, ephemeral through lush countryside and traditional homesteads and farms. Fort Portal rests in the shadow of the well-known “Mountains of the Moon,” After check-in, you will go for a guided tour in Bigodi Swamp to look for various species of birds such as the Shining Blue Kingfisher, Blue Throated Roller and other atypical species, as well as discover the fruiting trees that attract Narina Trogon, Pied Hornbill, Yellow Spotted, Hairy Breasted and Yellow-Billed Barbets.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking          

A moderately early morning begin to report to Kibale National Park ranger station to monitor accustomed chimps – these enchanting monkeys, closer to humans than any other living creature, are wonderful fun to watch as they clash and play in fruit trees. More than 13 species of primates are found in the extraordinarily varied forest, including red Colobus monkey, the rare L’Hoest, blue monkey, grey manufacture, pottos, black-faced vervet monkeys, baboons, and bush babies. A network of shady forest trails provides much to glee botanists and butterfly lovers, while birders are in for a treat with 335 species recorded as well as the endemic Prirogrine’s ground thrush. The elusive forest elephant, lower and hairier than its savannah counterpart, moves seasonally into the park’s residential area, while other terrestrial mammals include buffalo, giant forest hog and half a dozen antelope species.

After lunch, you will go for a guided stroll in Bigodi Swamp to search for various species of birds such as the Shining Blue Kingfisher, Blue Throated Roller and other atypical species and also discover the fruiting trees that attract Narina Trogon, Pied Hornbill, Yellow Spotted, Hairy Breasted and Yellow-Billed Barbets.

Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi NP

You will then leave for the National Park of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. You’ll drive through Queen Elizabeth’s southern industry called Ishasha. Here we’ll have dinner along the Ishasha River and attempt to discover the eminent Ishasha tree-climbing lions before going to Bwindi, home to the few surviving gorillas of the mountains. Birdlife and primate life in Bwindi is quite terrific, and there is an implausible array of flora.

Bwindi is the Bird watchers haven! It contains 348 bird species and promotes 24 of 26 Uganda-based Albertine Rift Endemics; and seven red information book species. Bwindi is now an ecological island, encircled by agriculture on the wealthy volcanic soils, once incessant with the forests of the Virunga volcanoes (Dian Fossey’s stomping ground).

Day 7: Gorilla trekking       

After an early breakfast and seminar from the guides, head out for the mountain gorilla tracking inside the Bwindi forest. You may need to bring drinking water, rain jacket and jungle boots while a walking stick is provided by the rangers. Gorilla tracking is one of the unique activities you will enjoy while photographing and observing the gorillas. Return to the lodge after tracking and relax.

You’re going to go for a village walk and see how Ugandans live if you have the energy this afternoon!

Day 8: Return to Entebbe

Set out for Kampala, the drive back to Kampala stops at the Mpigi Royal Drum Makers Here you will be able to watch the traditional drums being crafted using methods passed down through generations. There will also be a stopover at the equator for photographs and you will arrive in Kampala early afternoon. Transfer to Entebbe
